The Netherlands Symphony Orchestra is based in the Music Center in Enschede, Netherlands. Originally founded as an amateur chamber orchestra in the 1930s, it was conducted by Klaas de Rook until 1947, when it performed under the name of the Twents Philharmonic Orchestra. By 1954, it had become the Overijssels Philharmonic Orchestra, merging in 1983 with the Opera Forum.
