b. Nicolle Marcella Burt, 16 February 1974, Port Antonio, Portland, Jamaica, West Indies. Burt nurtured her vocal skills in her formative years and at the age of 12 she represented her school in a seminary folk group. She also sang in church and in her teens joined a local band that performed as Fresh. Despite the line-up's young age they secured a regular booking at the local Fern Club.
