The Orchestra of the Americas was primarily a studio ensemble that recorded numerous successful discs of light classical music and musical theater. Active from the 1980s through the early 2000s, it should not be confused with the orchestra of the same name, founded as the Youth Orchestra of the Americas by conductor Carlos Miguel Prieto in 2002, or with the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Americas founded by conductor Alondra de la Parra and active in New York City around 2010.
