Pamela Polland's music has grown and blossomed as she shifted musical direction several times since starting out in the '60s. As part of Gentle Soul with Rick Stanley, she charted in the '60s with a few folk-rock singles. During the following decade, the singer/songwriter made two recordings for Columbia Records as a solo artist, and she fronted a jazz quartet in Maui. By 1999, Polland joined with Claudia Kirchmayr in a Hawaiian-language duo called Makamaka.
