Biography

Cellist Parry Karp is known as the longest-standing member of the Pro Arte Quartet, having joined the group in 1976. He is also noted as a solo player and an educator. During Karp's recording career as a soloist, he has specialized in little-known music for cello. In 2025, however, he released a recording of one of the best-known cello-and-orchestra works, Ernest Bloch's Schelomo. Karp was born in Madison, Wisconsin, in 1954, and except for some periods during his training, he has spent most of his life there.
