Biography
Cellist Patrick Demenga is also active as an educator and a festival director. In his concerts and recordings, he seeks a productive tension between traditional repertory and contemporary music, and he has given the world premieres of many new works. Demenga has recorded for various labels, including the boutique imprint ECM. On that label, he issued the album Alexander Knaifel: Chapter Eight in 2025.
Demenga was born in Bern, Switzerland, in 1962. He is the younger brother of cellist Thomas Demenga, and the two have performed together. From childhood, he knew he wanted to be...
