The People were one of five Belfast groups included on the 1966 Ember Records LP compilation Ireland's Greatest Sounds: Five Top Groups from Belfast's Maritime Club. Eric Wrixon, who had played keyboards in Them for a while, was in the group, which evolved from Tony & the Telstars (which included Rod Demick, later to go on to the closest Them sound-alike ever, the Wheels). With George O'Hara on lead vocals, the People recorded two covers for the Ember Records anthology, "I'm with You" (originally recorded by Liverpool band the Big Three) and Buddy Holly's "Well...All Right."
