Formed by Slayer's Dave Lombardo, Civil Defiance's Gerry Nestler, and War's Francisco "Pancho" Tomaselli, Philm is an experimental post-hardcore group based out of Los Angeles, California. Originally conceived in 2009 by Lombardo and Nestler while Slayer was in between tour dates, the band's sound, self-described as having "rhythmic emotion," is elemental, powerful, and bipolar, playing around with rhythm and atmosphere while making only the slightest nods to the bandmembers' past work.
