Essentially from the same mould as Texan blues boogie supremos ZZ Top, Point Blank's first two releases were produced by Bill Ham, who had also masterminded the latter band's rise to fame. Point Blank's line-up has been somewhat fluid, but in the main it featured John O'Daniel (vocals), Rusty Burns (guitar), Kim Davis (guitar), Bill Randolph (bass), Mike Hamilton (keyboards) and Buzzy Gren (drums).
