Polly Perkins

b. Gillian Arnold, 1943, England. Although UK vocalist Polly Perkins did not have a hit single, she was a constant feature of pop papers and television owing to numerous, crafted publicity stunts. Her on/off engagement with rock ‘n' roll singer Terry Dene - itself a fabrication - made the national press, and viewers of Juke Box Jury were shocked when Perkins appeared wearing a collar and tie and pin-striped suit.
