Toronto, Canada's Maryam Said (aka Poolblood) specializes in bedroom pop of their own production, blending in elements of punk and folk as they see fit. Despite growing up in a religious family who discouraged listening to popular music, Said gravitated toward the songwriting of Yusuf Islam (Cat Stevens), which in turn led them down a path of musical discovery.
