Pop*Star*Kids

pOp*stAr*kiDs emerged from New York City's downtown underground scene in 1999. The brainchild of guitarist/singer Andee, the project started as a collection of his four-track demos, which featured a sort of quirky lo-fi electronic pop. Andee teamed up with another local musician, Anthony Pops, and recorded the first pOp*stAr*kiDs album as a duo in late 1999. The album, titled This Is pOp*stAr*kiDs, was released independently in early 2000 and became a college radio hit, charting in CMJ's Top 200 for nine weeks.
