Biography

b. Ernest Jansen Ingle, 7 November 1906, Toledo, Ohio, USA, d. 7 September 1965. As a young man Ingle played saxophone in several dance bands in and around his home-town. In 1932 he joined the popular band led by Ted Weems and by the end of the decade was an established studio musician. He became a founder member of Spike Jones' famous novelty band and in 1947 decided to form a similar band of his own. He had a number of hit records, among them ‘Tim-Tay-Shun', ‘Cigarettes, Whuskey And Wild, Wild Women', and also recorded with Jo Stafford in one of her many comedy guises.
