Percussionist, singer, composer, and bandleader Raúl Lara grew up surrounded by music in Havana, Cuba. During the '80s, he played in a number of performing groups and was tutored by José Luis Quintana (aka Changuito). In 1990, Lara relocated to Sweden, where he toured with the likes of Timba Odara and Son Entero. Lara's career turned a corner after he assembled his ten-member Soneros, featuring musicians from Cuba and Sweden.
