Ray Vaughn

Ray Vaughn is a West Coast rapper who signed to Top Dawg Entertainment at an interesting time. The West Coast label, known for breaking acts like Schoolboy Q and SZA, offered Vaughn a deal just as Kendrick Lamar, the company's flagship artist, was leaving. Whether Vaughn will live up to Lamar's example, though, isn't as important in the short-term as what the younger lyricist does bring to the table: deft verses wrapped around unfussy, accessible beats, as on 2024's Pusha T collab "Problems."
