Biography

As a soloist, orchestra concertmaster, chamber musician, and educator, violinist Reto Kuppel has been a prominent contemporary figure on the German musical scene. Kuppel was born in Bietigheim-Bissingen, near Stuttgart, Germany, on April 11, 1972. He showed talent as a youth and made his debut at age 13, in a concert in Greece. After winning Germany's Jugend Musiziert (Youth Making Music) competition, he won admission to the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg, going on for further study with Dorothy DeLay at the Juilliard School in New York.
