The drummer for western Massachusetts-based band, the Wholesale Klezmer Band, since 1982, Richie Davis has brought a new sensibility to the group's sound. In a 2001 interview, he explained, "I feel the music surge through me kinetically and try to give that back to the band and the dancers on the floor. It's the next best thing I know to being out there dancing myself."
Creating rhythms on pots and pans since early childhood, Davis began formal drum lessons at the age of nine. He received his first drum set as a Bar Mitzvah gift.
