Surrey native River Matthews fostered his early love of music by learning covers from the songbooks of the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, and others. His rich, soulful voice was a strong fit for the classic fare, but it wasn't until his mid-twenties that he finally mustered the courage to write some tunes of his own.
