Sarah Hanahan is a New York-based alto saxophonist, composer, and bandleader. Her tone readily reveals the influence of Jackie McLean, but her approach also reflects influences ranging from John Coltrane and Charlie Parker to Kenny Garrett. In addition to leading a quartet, she is a member of Ulysses Owens and Generation Y. In 2024, Hanahan released her debut long-player Among Giants on Jazz at Lincoln Center's house label Blue Engine with pianist Marc Cary, drummer Jeff "Tain" Watts, and bassist Nat Reeves.
