Country blues singer/guitarist Scott Ainslie was inspired to take up guitar when he heard the blues artist John Jackson play in 1967. He also underwent formal music training, however, graduating from Washington & Lee University with a B.A. in music theory and composition in 1974. In his career, he combined performing with academic work in music history, including various teaching programs and his book, Robert Johnson/At the Crossroads (1992). He appeared on albums by Tom Chapin (So Nice to Come Home, Join the Jubilee) in the mid-'90s and released his debut solo album, Jealous ...
