Sébastien Hurtaud is among France's leading cellists, active internationally as a soloist and chamber music player. He had an unusually varied education that included participation in one of the last master classes given by Mstislav Rostropovich.
Hurtaud was born in the early '80s in La Rochelle on France's Atlantic coast.
