Rooted in the fiery, no-frills punk-blues/hard rock style of bands like the Black Keys and early Kings of Leon, Johannesburg's Shadowclub emerged in the early 2010s and quickly established themselves as a vital cog in the vibrant South African rock scene. The trio earned a pair of Sama Award nominations for the LPs Guns and Money (2011) and Goodbye Wild Child (2013), taking the award home for the former effort. In 2018, after a two-year break to tend to personal endeavors, they returned with the EP Big Green Mamba Dream.
