Shy Girls is the nom de plume of Dan Vidmar, a Portland-based alternative-R&B musician. The native of State College, Pennsylvania headed to the west coast after graduating from Pennsylvania State University and quickly started working on music professionally once he arrived in Portland. He garnered attention in 2013 when he placed "Under Attack" on SoundCloud. Soon, the single gained rave reviews and he released the Timeshare EP by the end of the year.
