Over a career that has included extended tenures with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, Simon Rattle has become recognized as one of the world's top conductors. Mostly focusing on symphonic music, he has also conducted major operatic productions. His recording catalog is vast and includes music from Haydn to contemporary works, but he performs music of the late 19th and early 20th centuries especially often.
