Son de Madera are a Mexican folk group from Xalapa, Veracruz, who specialize in son jarocho, a folk style native to the region. In addition to numerous full-length album releases, the group has performed at folk music festivals throughout the world. Founded in 1992 in Xalapa, the capital city of the Mexican state of Veracruz, Son de Madera are led by guitarist Ramón Gutiérrez Hernández, who had performed in the son jarocho group Mono Blanco with his brother prior to founding a group of his own.
