Biography
Born in Newton, West Virginia, Squire Parsons began his gospel career singing with the Calvarymen. In 1975 he joined the Kingsmen as a baritone, but he left in 1979 to pursue a solo career and recorded over 20 Southern gospel/MOR albums. Parsons won six Singing News Magazine awards, including the prestigious Marvin Norcross Award in 1990. "Sweet Beulah Land" was a number one song on Southern gospel charts in 1981. Parsons retired from live appearances in 2019, citing poor health; he died on May 5, 2025, at the age of 77. ~ Bil Carpenter
