Named in an oblique reference to My Bloody Valentine 's epic album Loveless, Study of the Lifeless merged dissonant textures, ethereal vocals, dense harmonics, and a solid rock foundation into their yearning shoegaze songs. After presenting their full-length debut, Study of the Lifeless, in 2000, they followed up with weightier The World Revolves Around You in 2002. The duo released one more album, 2007's more club-appropriate Devil Ego, before disbanding that same year.
