Chicago band Sybris makes angular rock that draws on equal parts grunge explosiveness and moody, after-hours goth club atmospheres. The group rode high throughout the 2000s, but faded into dormancy after their second album, 2008's Into the Trees. In an unexpected turn, however, Sybris re-formed in 2024 around the release of their long-shelved third album, Gold on Hold, which had been shelved since it was recorded in 2012.
