Biography
Blue Rose was a bluegrass combo that continued to break the traditional, male modes of the genre with its all-female lineup. The group was comprised of dobroist Sally Van Meter, renowned fiddler Laurie Lewis, banjoist Cathy Fink, the guitar and mandolin of Marcy Marxer, and bassist Molly Mason. Blue Rose's lone release was a self-titled affair on Sugar Hill in 1988; Fink and Lewis contributed lead vocals to the project, which included a swinging take on the obscure Hank Williams number "Blue Love." ~ Johnny Loftus
