Biography
Nouveau indie rockers the Evening first formed in San Francisco in the late '90s as a project of guitarists Lee Burik and Patrik Sklenar. Both were avant jazz aficionados who freely mixed their training into a shimmery, messy ball of prog, punk, and noise experimentation. Filled out by vocalist Matt Rist, drummer Brian Kim, and bassist Zach Brewer (everyone chipped in on synths, samples, and organ), the Evening issued an introductory EP before grabbing the attention of longtime local indie Lookout, which issued the Other Victorians LP in February 2004.
