The indie rock supergroup the Hard Quartet first debuted in mid-2024 with the track "Earth Hater," before their eponymous album appeared a few months later.
Formed by Pavement founder Stephen Malkmus, Chavez founder Matt Sweeney, the Cairo Gang's Emmett Kelly, and Dirty Three drummer Jim White, the group issued its first track "Earth Hater," a mix of Malkmus' wonky indie rock and Kelly's folk-imbued sound, on Matador Records in mid-2024.
