Biography
Not to be confused with the Mar-Keys, Memphis Horns, Bar-Kays, or any other ensemble, the Memphis Boys were session musicians led by guitarist Reggie Young. They were a busy group who played on over 120 hits made between the late '60s and early '70s before relocating to Nashville in 1972. Keyboardist Bobby Emmons and Bobby Wood, bassist Mike Leech, and drummer Gene Chrisman were other members. They played on recordings by Bobby Womack, Joe Tex, and Elvis Presley. They've done more recent sessions with Delbert McClinton, Smokey Robinson, and the Highwaymen. ~ Ron Wynn
