The Merlons of Nehemiah were formed in 1992 in Germany. They quickly made a name for themselves when veering sharply from the path taken by many groups born out of that country's burgeoning early '90s alternative folk-rock scene. While "Deutsche" folk-rock groups like Paddy Goes to Holyhead, An Cat Dubh, Fiddler's Green and Tapsi Turtles borrowed almost exclusively from their Irish and UK contemporaries the Merlons drew from more far-reaching sources.
