The Sanctuaries were formed in 2010 when friends singer/guitarist David Stern and drummer Brian Indig solidified a set of upbeat pop songs after playing together in various combinations for several years at Skidmore College. Based out of Manhattan but with roots in New York state, the group enlisted Rochester-area musician Alex Northrup on organ along with a rotating cast of bass players.
