Anarcho-punk band Vex were active for only a few short years in the mid-'80s, playing shows alongside other bands of their ilk like Conflict and releasing just a single 12", entitled Sanctuary, before disbanding. Despite being associated with the anarchist scene that gave rise to bands like Crass, Vex leaned more toward the gothic and new wave, though still rooted in punk.
