Tokyo-born MC Tigarah considered becoming a politician or ambassador while majoring in political science at Keio University, but she uses her global outlook in her music, which blends baile funk, grime, and crunk with topical, convention-challenging lyrics. The "girl like a tiger" was introduced to baile funk by her Brazilian classmates and was so inspired that she went to Brazil, making several trips to São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro to learn more about the culture and record with local musicians.
