Music was always something that Tom Lillo took a serious interest in. His first guitar was a Sears Silvertone, which he still owns. When Lillo was in his twenties he decided to stray from the standard career path he'd chosen as a consulting acoustical engineer. He felt he needed a change, feeling death was near without a change.
