Vanusa was one of the biggest idols of the Jovem Guarda movement, having constituted a solo career with over 20 albums recorded. She started to sing professionally at age 16 in a local dance band in Minas Gerais, and with the boom of the Jovem Guarda movement, her voice and looks made her an ideal opponent for Wanderléa.
