Tribal rockers Velvet Hammer formed in Houston, TX, in 1991 around the nucleus of singer/bassist Lynda Millard and singer/keyboardist Ginger Doss, who co-founded the group along with guitarist Dana Davis and drummer Katrina Lassberg. The trio disbanded two years later, with Millard and Doss relocating to the Austin area and reuniting as DosMillard; by 1994, they were again performing with Davis and Lassberg as Velvet Hammer, releasing the album Live in 1995.
