Not to be confused with the gospel artist of the same name nor the talented jazz drummer, this Walter Johnson was a superb but unfortunately dismally under-recorded soul singer who wrote much of his own material. Sometimes compared to Otis Redding in terms of musical quality and obviously not fortune, fame, nor exposure, Johnson's most famous record was a single on the Wand label matching the procrastinating "Not Now But Later" with the miserable "Love Keeps Me Crying."
