Formed in the mid-2010s in Oakland, California by a quartet of musicians who already had other bands (like Andy Human & the Reptoids, Pang, and Penny Machine) but wanted to recapture the angular, anarchic version of post-punk as played by Essential Logic, X-Ray Spex, and the early Fall, the World featured Amber Sermeno on bass and vocals, Elyse Schrock on drums and vocals, guitarist Andy Jordan, and Alexa Pantalone on bongos.
