Yirinda is a collaboration between contrabassist, producer, and composer Samuel Pankhurst and Butchulla songman Fred Leone that combines lush, polyrhythmic sonic landscapes with ancient Aboriginal language. Leone, a song and language custodian for the Butchulla people from the Fraser Coast region of Queensland, founded the region's first Aboriginal hip-hop label, Impossible Odds, and toured as a member of the musical theatre organization Black Arm Band.
