Producer Zach Witness seemed to come from nowhere in November 2015, when his name was attached to each track on Erykah Badu's whimsical mixtape But You Caint Use My Phone. The name might have been unknown to most fellow natives of Dallas, Texas, but some of them undoubtedly knew of Witness' activity as DJ White Chocolate, one of the key figures behind the rink-centric "D-town boogie" scene.
