Maren Morris Isn't Cool Enough for an '80s Mercedes'

Maren Morris came up with the idea to write a song around the title "80s Mercedes" after talking with a girlfriend about her boyfriend problems. Apparently, the guy was a total dud, but he had a really cool car -- a Mercedes Benz from the '80s. From there, she took the idea to a co-writer and "80s Mercedes" was born.

I’m not cool enough to have that car. Maybe in the future I’ll have one fun weekend car, but the title fell out of a conversation. This girl I was talking to, she was talking about this guy she was dating, and he wasn’t that cool, but his car was. It was this 80’s Mercedes. I remember thinking to myself, ‘That’s a really cool title.'

It is the second single off her recently released Hero album. Maren is on Keith Urban's RipCord tour all summer, opening for the Aussie star along with Brett Eldredge.
