Jennifer Lopez Is Set To Play 'Cocaine Godmother' Griselda Blanco For HBO

Jennifer Lopez's next acting stint might take you for surprise as the triple-threat is set to portray drug lord Griselda Blanco in a forthcoming HBO film.

On Wednesday (August 10), Deadline reported that the pop titan's Nuyorican Productions and LBI Entertainment are working on a film that will focus on the life and death of the "Cocaine Godmother," who was known for her infamous drug trafficking in the '70s and 80s. The film will be executed produced by Lopez, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, Benny Medina, Julie Yorn, Rick Yorn, among others.

Lopez shared her fascination over Blanco, who became the most powerful female cartel of all time, in a statement, saying, “I’ve been fascinated by the life of this corrupt and complicated woman for many years. The idea of teaming with HBO felt like the perfect fit for finally bringing Griselda’s story to life."

Always the busy woman, J.Lo is also the star and executive producer of "Shades of Blue," her NBC drama about a corrupt police team. The show was recently renewed for a second season.
