INTERVIEW: Audien Talks 'Crazy Love' & New Music | In His Words

Twenty-four-year old dance music DJ and producer Nate Rathbun, better known as Audien, has had an incredible rise in the dance music industry over the last few years. Coming off the success of his 2015 EP Daydreams, which featured his hit collaboration with Lady Antebellum "Something Better," and the release of his No. 1 US Dance song "Insomnia," the Connecticut native is back with a brand new single called "Crazy Love." For his new song, Audien teamed up with vocalist Deb's Daughter, as well as songwriter Peter Hanna -- who did the lyric writing on "Something Better."
Audien recently stopped by iHeartRadio HQ, where he told us about his new single, and new music fans can look forward to during an exclusive interview.
On writing his new single "Crazy Love"
"The new song is called 'Crazy Love,' a song I did with Deb's Daughter. It's kind of funny, she actually did some of the writing on the song too. I usually, I work with this guy named Peter. He does some of the writing. He did the writing on 'Something Better' for the lyrics, and she also jumped in and did that. And she actually sang it. Sometimes I'll get a feature or something, but I decided to just go with her this time and she's an awesome singer. I'm really pumped about this one."
On new songs coming out
As most producers normally do, Audien is always creating new music, and promises that fans have a lot to look forward to the rest of this year. He tells us that he's finishing up several new tracks, and he's actually "been teasing them a little bit." So if you've seen him live recently, you may have heard some new music already!
"I got a few cool collabs I'm really excited about. I've been teasing them a little bit." He adds, "I'm finishing up like probably six or seven new songs. So it's constant work for me, but it's not really work, it's just fun."
In fact, one of his new collaborations is with someone who he calls his "best friend in the business" -- Justin Blau AKA 3LAU. He describes the new song as unique, and "unlike anything else."
On his upcoming collaboration with 3LAU
"I have a collab with 3LAU. He's a really good friend of mine. One of my best friends in the business. We kind of like have a similar style with music. We like the same stuff, play the same stuff. So we figured let's do a record, and it's really cool. It's kind of unlike anything else. It's pretty unique, and it's hard to be unique right now because there's just a lot of similar stuff floating around. I'm really pumped about it."
