MTV VMAs: Britney Spears, Rihanna & More Honored With Murals In NYC | On Location

On Location offers fans an exclusive on-site report of some of the most exciting events in the biz. From specialty pop-up shops to some of the more behind-the-scenes industry events, iHeartRadio never fails in helping fans get that much closer to the action.
Word of the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards has spread throughout the streets of New York City, courtesy of the street art that was unveiled for this year's nominations in June. However, the network isn't done honoring the chart-toppers justyet. Two days before Sunday's ceremony, which takes place at Madison Square Garden, the Lower East Side's Van der Plas Gallery has been transformed into a mural hub entirely dedicated to this year's performance roster.
On Friday (August 26), iHeartRadio took to the opening of the installation, which featured all of the announced performers, to see the artistic interpretation of the lineup. From Fumeroism's orange-filled take on Britney Spears to the pop art-esque vision of Nick Jonas, each of the murals were given a distinct facelift thanks to a different artist. Additional murals from Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, Future and the Video of the Year nominations are also featured in the gallery.
Still, MTV isn't done with surprises just yet as they have one more performer to reveal. During our visit, we learned that their secret is still being kept under wraps until the artist's rep gives the go. If you're interested in visiting the exhibit, the Van der Plas Gallery is open to the public until Sunday during the hours of 12 p.m. - 6 p.m. ET at 156 Orchard St. in the Lower East Side.
