Seattle Seahawks Players Could Join Anthem Protest...on 9/11

INJO(INDEPENDENT JOURNAL REVIEW) The Seattle Seahawks found themselves sucked into the Colin Kaepernick-fueled national anthem protest debate when Seahawk Jeremy Lane unexpectedly decided to sit out "in solidarity" at a preseason game.

And as their regular season is set to begin on September 11th, the 15th anniversary of the deadliest terrorist attack on American soil, several players have made comments that seem to indicate that the entire team could sit out the anthem — together — on that historic day.

It all started when wide receiver Doug Baldwin posted the following tweet:

Baldwin also told Bob Condotta, of the Seattle Times, this about a possible protest: "...our locker room has discussed it. So we’ll see.”

But teammate Bobby Wagner, who also spoke to Condotta, alluded to more of a team-wide protest:

“Anything we want to do, it’s not going to be individual. It’s going to be a team thing. That’s what the world needs to see. The world needs to see people coming together versus being individuals.”
