Nick Gordon has been found "legally responsible" for the death of Bobbi Kristina Brown, 11Alive reports.

It's been over a year since Bobbi Kristina tragically passed away and it looks like her family is finally getting some sense of closure from it.

After Gordon failed make a second scheduled court appearance this morning (Sept. 16) for the wrongful death case of Bobbi Kristina's, Fulton County Superior Court Judge T. Jackson made the ruling.

"In court today, we finally finished a long journey for justice for Bobbi Kristina Brown," Brown's estate lawyer R. David Ware said. "The court agrees with us, by striking Mr. Gordon's answer that he is legally responsible for her death. The only thing left to prove is the value of her life. We intend to do that."

A Brown family member also told PEOPLE: "We are praising God. This has been a long time coming. But all the judgments in the world won't bring Krissy back. We miss her every single day. Even when there's justice, it's not comfort. She was gone too soon, and we all have to live with that. I hope Nick lives with it every day for the rest of his life, because we sure are."

In Jan. 2015, Bobbi Kristina was found unresponsive on a bathtub. She would later be placed in a medically induced coma. After six months of receiving extensive medical care, Bobbi Kristina passed away.
