September 21, 2016
(KFAN) Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson told ESPN reporter Josina Anderson Wednesday morning that he has opted to have surgery to repair the torn meniscus in his right knee.
#Vikings RB Adrian Peterson told me he's planning to have surgery on Thurs to repair his meniscus. He's "doing it with faith and optimism."

There is no announced time-frame for Peterson's return, though surgery usually does indicate multiple missed weeks.
If Anderson's information is correct, Peterson could miss 3-4 months which would potentially sideline him for the remainder of the season.
